Welcome to two more new directors Morgane Artacho and Melissa Wall.
Melissa says “I am absolutely passionate about all aspects of physical activity; nutrition and helping people achieve their fitness goals. I think it is extremely rewarding to help encourage people who are relatively inactive to get fit and see the difference it makes to their physical and mental well being. I am keen to be part of this exciting project for many reasons………
Morgane Artacho who moved to Aviemore from Edinburgh in 2010 and has thrown herself enthusiastically into village life. She has a background in education, ranging from teaching to project management in the areas of student engagement and international education. Her work involved engaging people and organisations through promotion and project partnerships, thus securing further project funding and raising the profile of the organisations she has worked for.
Since moving north has been involved with Cairngorm Outdoor Access Trust. She is Club Secretary at Cairngorm Runners and a volunteer with Disability Snowsport UK.
She served on the Turning Point Scotland Board prior to moving to the Highlands, and currently sits as an adviser on the Citizens Advice Bureau Board where she is a volunteer.

Many thanks, Kelley!

ASC Chair, Kelley Miller, stood down at the August 2011 Board meeting.  Kelley has given huge amounts of support to the project and will be sadly missed for her thoughtful and informed inputs at meetings.  Come back any time Kelley – you’ll be most welcome.

Aviemore Sports Centre Report

30th November 2009

Since the last update, the Aviemore Sports Centre Company (ASC) has been formed and held its inaugural directors meeting on the 11th May 2009. A company limited by guarantee, it has also been set up as a registered charity. This company has taken over from the Feasibility Group and will oversee the project to build the sports centre and will then run it as a community “not for profit” facility.  In addition to some of the members of the steering group becoming directors in the new company, several new enthusiastic local faces have also volunteered. These include a local solicitor, an accountant, a former area manager for a multinational retail chain and a funding specialist.  In support we also have a former project manager to guide us and offer technical advice and a professional PA acting as the administration secretary. We are pleased to have attracted such diverse professionals to the team and believe that the high calibre of all the volunteers will ensure the project progresses as envisaged.
